Brave Sally
Sally arrived at the centre in February having been rescued from a pound in Wales. When she was collected from the lady who had rescued her it was plainly obvious that something was very much amiss with her front legs. They were bowed and she was walking on part of her leg rather than her foot.
Despite this she was a friendly and happy dog. We soon took her along to see our Vet who has carried out a number of orthopedic operations on dogs we've rescued with serious problems in the past.
It would seem that Sally's problems arose from malnutrition when she was very young and had caused her front legs to bow in this way. After a few weeks of a high calcium supplement Sally certainly seemed much brighter but it was decided that surgery would be necessary while she was still young.
So on Friday 28th March Sally had major sugery on one leg. As you can see from the photographs she has 2 external fitments plus some internal metalwork.
The photo on the left shows not only how bowed her left leg is, but now how hopefully her right leg and foot (which was the same) will be much better aligned.
She's back for a checkup on Tuesday and hopefully given the all clear to go to her new home that's already waiting for her.
The Trust is very grateful to Stuart at Glenthorne Vets for his work in helping Sally. Much of the funding for the operations Sally will need will be met from our own Collie Care Fund but any donations will be very much welcomed.
