The Trustees

Many times you will read of "The Border Collie Trust" and probably some reference to The Trustees. But who are they and why does The Trust need them?

The Dictionary describes "trustee" as each of a body of persons often elective, managing affairs of an institution or one who is responsible for preservation and administration of a thing.

In plain English I would describe those who serve as trustees in organisations, such as BCTGB, as unpaid volunteers who ensure the continued growth and success of that particular organisation. They are indeed similar to a Board of Directors in a Limited Company but, certainly in the case of BCTGB, are unpaid volunteers.

BCTGB Trustees are invited and elected to join the Board of Trustees for many reasons, but we all have one common interest. The welfare of rescued Border Collies and the continued success of The Trust to carry out this valuable work. Regular meetings to discuss the day to day matters plus important financial and legislative matters are held in addition to the time spent on matters such as painting, gardening, photography, magazine editing, attending Dog Shows, Car Boot Sales  etc etc.. The Trustees bring a wide spectrum of attributes and skills and devote much time to their work.
