VAT changes

It was announced on 24th November 2008 that the rate of VAT from 1st December 2008 to
31st December 2009 will change from 17.5% to 15%.

Whilst the rate of VAT is reduced by 2.5% this equals a discount of 2.13% on prices prior to 1st December 2008. The idea is to encourage us all to spend and help the economy recover.

For businesses it provides a big headache in actually implementing this.
We have considered various options available to our trading arm - BCT Enterprises Ltd.

We have about 2000 individual items on our stock records and this would require an
individual change of each computer record, plus updating of all the items
shown on the website and also repricing all current stock.

Then in just over 12 months time we could do it all again!!  We are sure you understand that for a small organisation like ourselves this would be very time consuming.

Faced with ever increasing costs ourselves recently (for example earlier this year 500 litres of heating oil had risen from just under £300 to £570), we have fought hard to keep any price rises to the absolute minimum over the last few years in order to thank our supporters for their continued help and so we hope you will be happy with how we intend to deal with this change in VAT.

All prices will remain the same, however, when you place an order online you will be able to use a promotional code should you wish to receive a discount equivalent to paying VAT at 15%.

When you arrive at the checkout enter - VAT - in the Promotional box to receive this discount. This can be used on all orders placed between 1st December 2008 and 31st December 2009.
This does not apply to books which are zero rated

If you don't use that code (and leave the box blank) you will effectively be donating 2.13% of the cost of your order to help our work and the collies we rescue. If you are able to do this we are very grateful of your support in the current economic climate.
